무명 및 인견 원단에 오배자 천연염색으로 원단을 물들인 후, 몰입의 시간을 위한 명상 라이프스타일 제품 컬렉션(명상용 방석, 내추럴 다잉 팬츠, 매트 & 토트백)을 디자인했습니다.





Description

이 프로젝트는 한국의 전통적인 돌탑 쌓기 문화에서 영감을 받았습니다. 예로부터 동아시아에서는 돌을 쌓으며 안전과 소망을 기원하는 풍습이 있었으며, 이는 주변 산 인근의 쌓여진 작은 돌부터 문화재 ‘불국사 삼층석탑’에서도 반복적으로 찾아볼 수 있습니다. 이러한 돌 쌓기는 동양 철학인 선(禪) 사상과 연관이 있으며, 본질에 집중하여 정신적 평온함을 추구하던 서구권 미니멀리즘과도 맞닿아 있습니다.

돌을 닮은 본질적 형태는 덜어내며 충만해지는 '명상'의 순간을 의미하며, 한국에서 자라는 쑥과 오배자를 식물성 직물인 인견에 천연 염색 후 메밀 껍질을 채워넣어 주변과 어우러지는 지속가능성을 고려했습니다. 이로써 번뇌에서 멀어져 평온한 몰입을 위한 명상용 컬렉션 (조명, 매트, 명상용 팬츠, 명상 방석)을 디자인하여, 자연과의 친밀한 관계를 토대로 더 나은 내일로의 연결을 지향했던 한국적 미의식을 표현했습니다.

This project draws inspiration from Korea's traditional stone-stacking culture. Throughout East Asia, people have long stacked stones as a ritual to pray for safety and wishes, a practice seen in small stone piles near mountain paths as well as in cultural landmarks such as the Three-story Stone Pagoda of Bulguksa. This act of stacking stones is deeply connected to the Zen philosophy of the East, which emphasizes returning to essence and seeking spiritual tranquility. It also resonates with the principles of Western minimalism, which similarly values simplicity and introspection.

The fundamental form, reminiscent of a stone, symbolizes a meditative moment-becoming whole through reduction. By naturally dyeing rayon, a plant-based fabric, with mugwort and gallnut, both native to Korea, and filling it with buckwheat hulls, the project embraces sustainability in harmony with its surroundings.
